How to Configure an ARK Dedicated Server
Setting up a bare metal ARK server from scratch gives you ultimate flexibility. The process requires establishing the core server files, configuring network traffic, and tuning the game parameters for your hardware.
View Hardware Plans1. Utilize SteamCMD
Log into your bare metal server via SSH or RDP. Download and install the Steam Console Client (SteamCMD). You will use anonymous login to fetch and validate the core ARK server application files (`AppID 376030`) directly to your local NVMe drive.
2. Adjust INI Configurations
Navigate to `GameUserSettings.ini` and `Game.ini`. Here you define the server name, admin password, map cycle, harvest rates, and mod IDs. Ensure your OS firewall has UDP ports 7777, 7778, and 27015 explicitly opened.
